The Doctrine of Purgatory: Roman Invention or Biblical Precedent?

Sean Conley will provide attendees a thorough study on the Doctrine of Purgatory, including:

  • Roman Invention Or Biblical Precedent?
  • What Purgatory is Not.
  • Common man’s argument for Purgatory.
  • Is God’s time our time?
  • Scriptural support for the concept of Purgatory.

Sean was raised Catholic and attended Catholic schools through 12th grade. He earned a BS in Mechanical Engineering from Clemson University. While at Clemson, Sean was heavily involved in the Catholic Center after the Bible in a Year podcast encouraged him to take his faith seriously. He was an active member of the Thomistic Institute Chapter while at Clemson.

Being a Midwesterner, he was surprised to find that Catholics were a minority in the South. Many friends asked him why he was a Catholic. He needed to provide answers to his friends’ questions, but more importantly he had to answer his own questions of faith. He loves studying the Catholic faith, and giving reasons for belief. In his study of the Catholic faith, he has found that it is more true than he initially realized—though not always in the ways he had thought it might be!

Sean is a parishioner at St Mary’s Catholic Church.
